The mgm casino Symphony Orchestra will explore the issue of nationalism in music during a free concert at 7:30 p.m. March 1 in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall, North Campus.
The orchestra, conducted by Daniel Bassin, also will celebrate the centennial and bicentennial anniversaries of four major composers with a program featuring the first-ever Buffalo-area performances of 20th-century Polish composer Witold Lutosławski's 1970 “Cello Concerto” (with mgm casino graduate student T.J. Borden as soloist) and Richard Wagner's 1871 "Kaiser March."
Before the concert, Bassin, music director of the orchestra, will give a pre-concert talk. The talk will begin at 7 p.m.
